Technical Description
P0375 is a generic diagnostic trouble code indicating that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected an intermittent or erratic signal from the high-resolution timing reference sensor 'B'. This sensor provides precision pulses to the PCM to accurately determine engine position for fuel injection and ignition spark timing. If the PCM detects missing pulses or an inconsistent pulse frequency that does not match the low-resolution signal (Sensor A), it triggers this code. This disruption causes loss of synchronization, potentially leading to 'Limp Home' mode or engine stalling.
Possible Causes
Faulty High Resolution Sensor 'B' (Optical or Hall-effect)
Wiring harness issues (chafed wires, corrosion, or poor grounding)
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) from ignition components or alternator
Internal PCM/ECM failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
