Technical Description
P0465 is stored when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an electrical failure or out-of-range signal from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Flow Sensor. This sensor monitors the volume of fuel vapors being drawn from the charcoal canister into the intake manifold during the purge cycle. The ECU monitors the feedback signal to ensure the purge valve is functioning and the flow rates match the commanded duty cycle. If the signal voltage remains static or falls outside calibrated limits, the diagnostic monitor fails. This code is often associated with electrical circuit issues rather than mechanical leaks.
Possible Causes
Faulty EVAP Purge Flow Sensor (internal short or open circuit)
Damaged wiring or corroded connectors in the sensor circuit
Faulty Purge Valve affecting flow readings
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) fault

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
