Technical Description
P0466 is stored when the Engine Control Module (PCM/ECM) detects that the signal from the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) purge flow sensor is outside of its calibrated range or is not performing as expected given the current engine operating conditions. The EVAP system's job is to trap fuel vapors in a charcoal canister and then purge them into the intake manifold. The sensor monitors the actual flow rate during this process. This code triggers if the sensor provides an implausible reading compared to the commanded purge valve duty cycle or if the voltage remains static when changes are expected.
Possible Causes
Faulty EVAP purge flow sensor
Leakage or blockage in EVAP hoses/vacuum lines
Damaged wiring or corrosion in the sensor connector
Faulty EVAP purge valve stuck open or closed

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
