Technical Description
P0467 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the fuel level sensor 'B' signal voltage is lower than the calibrated limit for a specific duration. This typically indicates a short to ground in the signal circuit or a failed sensor element with excessively low resistance. The system usually employs a 5V reference; if the return signal drops below a threshold (typically 0.2V to 0.5V), the ECM interprets this as a circuit fault. This 'B' sensor is common in 'saddle-style' fuel tanks found in AWD vehicles. This fault will disable accurate fuel gauge readings and may prevent DPF regeneration cycles in diesel engines due to fuel level safety logic.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel level sensor 'B' (internal short)
Wiring harness chafed and shorting signal to ground
Corrosion or damaged pins in the fuel tank connector
Faulty instrument cluster or internal ECU failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
