Technical Description
P047C is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) detects an electrical signal from the Exhaust Pressure Sensor 'B' that is below the expected operating range (typically below 0.2V to 0.5V). This sensor monitors backpressure in the exhaust system, which is critical for EGR flow control and DPF monitoring. A 'low' signal typically indicates a short to ground or an open circuit, preventing the ECM from accurately calculating boost pressure or EGR rates.
Possible Causes
Faulty exhaust pressure sensor (internal electrical failure)
Damaged wiring harness (short to ground on signal wire)
Corroded or loose connectors at the sensor
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) fault

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
