What does this fault code mean?
The tailgate control module (POT) checks the voltage across the motor used to unlock the tailgate. The fault is stored when the DC voltage is too low, which can be due to the wire to the unlock motor being short-circuited to ground, or the motor itself being damaged.
Possible causes
- The wire to the unlock motor is short-circuited to ground
- The unlock motor is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check the fuse for the tailgate control module in the fuse box. Its location is shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the box
- 2Look for chafed wires to the unlock motor, especially where the cable enters the tailgate
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the unlock motor has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4If the wire is intact but the fault remains, a workshop should replace the unlock motor
Symptoms you may notice3
- The tailgate is hard to open
- The tailgate is hard to close
- Automatic opening and closing of the tailgate does not work
