What does this fault code mean?
The anti-pinch sensor on the left side of the tailgate gives too high a voltage to the tailgate control module (POT). The sensor is meant to detect obstructions when the tailgate closes, so the control module has flagged the signal as faulty. The cause is that the cable to the sensor is short-circuited to the supply voltage.
Possible causes
- The cable to the anti-pinch sensor is short-circuited to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it, and test drive to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the weatherstrip on the tailgate, which carries the pinch sensors, is properly fitted and not loose
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the status of the left pinch sensor with the tailgate closed and see whether it shows pressed in for no reason
- 4Check that the sensor has not been damaged by water or chafing, especially when the tailgate is open
- 5Check that the cable from the sensor is intact and that the connector at the control module is firmly seated and clean
- 6If the cable is intact: have a workshop replace the anti-pinch sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- The tailgate is hard to close
- Automatic opening and closing of the tailgate does not work
