What does this fault code mean?
The anti-pinch sensor on the left side of the tailgate sends a signal that the tailgate control module (POT) cannot interpret, because there is a break in the circuit. The sensor is used to detect pinching when the tailgate closes, and the control module therefore cannot carry out a hydraulic closing of the tailgate.
Possible causes
- Open circuit
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it, and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the weatherstrip on the tailgate is firmly fitted where the left pinch sensor is
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cable from the left pinch sensor to the control module has no break in it
- 4Check that the connectors at both ends are firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 5Check that the sensor has not been damaged by water or chafing
- 6If the cable is intact: have a workshop replace the anti-pinch sensor
