2 modelsV70 (2008–), XC70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The anti-pinch sensor on the right side of the tailgate gives a value that the control module (POT) does not accept, because the cable to the sensor is short-circuited to supply voltage. The sensor detects obstacles when closing, so a wrong value affects how the tailgate closes.
Possible causes
- The cable to the anti-pinch sensor has a short circuit to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it, and test drive to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the weatherstrip around the tailgate, where the pinch sensors sit, is properly fitted and not loose
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the pinch sensor status with the tailgate closed; a pressed-in reading when nothing touches the sensor suggests it has moved
- 4Check that the sensor is dry and undamaged
- 5Check that the cable from the sensor is intact and that the connectors at both ends are firmly seated
- 6If the cable is intact: have a workshop replace the anti-pinch sensor and check its function afterwards
Symptoms you may notice2
- The tailgate is hard to close
- Automatic opening and closing of the tailgate does not work
