What does this fault code mean?
The sensor for the tailgate's inner lock position does not change status after the lock unit has been opened or closed, which the tailgate control module (POT) judges to be a fault. The cause is either a damaged sensor or a wire or connector in the lock unit that has come loose.
Possible causes
- The sensor is damaged
- Wire or connector in the tailgate lock unit has come loose
What you can do
- 1Read off and clear the fault code, test drive and see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check that the inner lock position sensor changes status at the end of a tailgate closing
- 3Check that the connector at the lock unit and the connector at the control module are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 4Check that the wiring harness between the control module and the lock mechanism is intact
- 5If the wiring is intact: have a workshop replace the lock mechanism and check its function afterwards
