What does this fault code mean?
The tailgate control module (POT) measures the voltage feeding the tailgate motor and has found it too low. This is because the supply is short-circuited to ground, or because the motor is damaged. The tailgate may then open and close slowly, or not automatically at all.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to ground in the supply
- Damaged tailgate opening motor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the tailgate motor are intact
- 2Read off and clear the fault code, then open and close the tailgate to see whether the code comes back
- 3Check that the tailgate moves easily by hand with nothing binding
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply cable to the motor has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5Check that the connectors at the motor and the control module are firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 6If the cable is intact: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the motor
