POT-C102267 - Boot/Trunk Secondary Switch. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal incorrect after event
System
Power Operated Tailgate (POT)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsV70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (3)
What does this fault code mean?
The sensor for the tailgate's outer lock position (sensor 2) does not change its value when the lock unit is opened or closed, or the closing sequence takes too long. The tailgate control module (POT) judges this as an incorrect signal.
Possible causes
- Damaged sensor 2 for the outer lock position
- Damaged tailgate opening motor, where the motor runs but the tailgate does not move
- Open circuit on the signal line from sensor 2
- Damaged tailgate lock unit
What you can do
- 1Read off and clear the fault code, test drive and see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check that sensor 2 changes status at the end of a tailgate closing
- 3Check that the tailgate moves all the way when the motor runs, since the motor can run without the tailgate moving
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal line from sensor 2 has no break
- 5Check that the connectors at the lock unit and the control module are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 6If the wiring is intact: have a workshop replace the lock unit
Symptoms you may notice4
- The tailgate is hard to open
- The tailgate is hard to close
- The central locking for the tailgate does not work
- Automatic opening and closing of the tailgate does not work
