Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (3)
What does this fault code mean?
The tailgate control module (POT) receives no signal from one or both hall sensors during automatic opening and closing of the tailgate. The cause may be a short to ground or a break in the signal line to one of the sensors, a damaged sensor, the tailgate's movement being mechanically blocked, or a damaged opening motor.
Possible causes
- A signal wire to one hall sensor is shorted to ground
- A break in the signal wire to one of the hall sensors
- Damaged hall sensor
- Tailgate movement is mechanically blocked
- Damaged motor for opening the tailgate
What you can do
- 1Read off and clear the fault code, test drive the automatic opening and closing and see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the fuses for the tailgate are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check that both hall sensor statuses change during automatic opening and closing
- 4Check that the tailgate does not stick or get blocked during its movement
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal lines from the hall sensors have no break and no contact with ground
- 6If the wiring is intact: have a workshop check the motor and the hall sensors
Symptoms you may notice3
- The tailgate is hard to close
- The tailgate is hard to open
- Automatic opening and closing of the tailgate does not work
