What does this fault code mean?
The tailgate control module (POT) has lost the vehicle configuration information it should receive from the central electronic module (CEM), so it is not configured for the car. The cause may be a disturbance or a brief break in the CAN network, a short in the communication cable, or poor contact in the connectors.
Possible causes
- Brief open circuit or interference in one or both CAN wires in part of the network
- Short circuit to ground in the communication cable
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the communication cable
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connectors
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the tailgate are intact
- 2Read off and clear the fault code, test drive and see whether it returns
- 3Check that the connectors at the tailgate control module are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 4Gently shake the wiring and connectors at the tailgate and see whether the fault returns
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CAN network and configure the control module
