VOLVO
POT-U300362 - Battery Voltage. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal compare failure
System
Power Operated Tailgate (POT)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsV70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (3)
What does this fault code mean?
The tailgate control module (POT) compares its own battery voltage with the voltage reported by the central electronic module (CEM), and the difference has been too large for a longer period. Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections, or a damaged supply cable, can cause this. If you notice no fault that can be linked to the code, it can be cleared.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged voltage supply cable
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and see whether it returns when the tailgate is used as normal
- 2Check that the fuses for the tailgate are intact
- 3Check that the battery terminals and the connections to the tailgate supply are clean and secure
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the battery voltage shown in the tailgate control module with the one in the central electronic module; the values should be roughly equal
- 5Have a workshop check the supply cable if it is damaged or if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice4
- The tailgate is hard to open
- The tailgate is hard to close
- The central locking for the tailgate does not work
- Automatic opening and closing of the tailgate does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Limited function in the tailgate control module (POT)
