What does this fault code mean?
At some point the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) did not receive the SRS lamp status message from the instrument cluster over the car's data network (CAN). The module then cannot be sure the warning lamp works. The fault is intermittent.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or interference on the data network (CAN)
- Fault in the instrument cluster (DIM)
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the instrument cluster and other modules – communication faults should be dealt with first
- 2Check the battery and its connections, as low voltage can disturb the data network
- 3Clear the code and see whether it returns
- 4If it returns, have a workshop diagnose the data network and the cluster; do not work on the airbag system yourself
Symptoms you may notice1
- The general orange warning lamp comes on
