Technical Description
P000C is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects that the intake camshaft on Bank 2 is not responding quickly enough to commands for timing adjustments. The variable valve timing (VVT) system uses an Oil Control Valve (OCV) to direct oil flow into the camshaft phaser. If the actual camshaft position lags behind the commanded position beyond a specific threshold (e.g., several degrees or milliseconds), the ECU triggers this code. It is often related to oil pressure, viscosity, or mechanical restrictions in the VVT actuator.

Dirty or incorrect engine oil (wrong viscosity or clogged oil passages/screens)
Failing Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid / Oil Control Valve (OCV)
Worn or faulty camshaft phaser (actuator)
Low oil pressure from the oil pump or internal mechanical obstruction in the timing assembly

- VISUAL INSPECTION: Check oil level and condition. If the oil is contaminated or of the wrong grade, perform an oil change with a high-quality filter. Inspect the solenoid wiring connector for oil wicking or corrosion.
- MEASUREMENT: Measure VVT solenoid resistance (typically 6-12 Ohms). Use an oscilloscope to monitor the PWM duty cycle from the ECU to ensure it responds to throttle input.
- ADVANCED DIAGNOSIS: Use a scan tool to perform an active test on the VVT solenoid at idle. The engine should stumble or stall if the mechanical phase shift is functional.
- REPLACEMENT: Clean or replace the Bank 2 intake OCV/solenoid. If the problem persists, the camshaft phaser may be mechanically stuck and require replacement.
