Technical Description
P001F is a generic OBD-II diagnostic trouble code indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) has detected an open circuit in the camshaft profile control circuit for Bank 2. 'Bank 2' refers to the side of the engine that does not contain cylinder number one. The system operates by the ECM sending a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal to a solenoid valve that regulates oil pressure to the camshaft actuator. If an open circuit is detected, the ECM cannot adjust valve timing, typically resulting in the system defaulting to a fixed timing position to protect the engine.
Possible Causes
Faulty camshaft control solenoid Bank 2 (internal open circuit)
Damaged wiring harness or corrosion in the connector
Blown fuse for the VVT system (often shared with other components)
Defective Engine Control Module (ECM)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
