Technical Description
P0037 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates a low voltage condition in the heater control circuit of the downstream oxygen sensor (Sensor 2) for Bank 1. The ECM (Engine Control Module) monitors the current flow through the heater element to ensure the sensor reaches operating temperature rapidly. If the ECM detects that the control circuit voltage is lower than the calibrated threshold when the heater is commanded ON (usually indicating a short to ground or a failed heater element with low internal resistance), the code is stored.
Possible Causes
Faulty heater element within the oxygen sensor (internal short or open circuit)
Damaged wiring harness (chafed wire grounding out)
Blown fuse or faulty oxygen sensor heater relay
Failed Engine Control Module (ECM) heater driver circuit

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
