Technical Description
P0062 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates a malfunction in the heater control circuit of the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) located at Bank 2, Sensor 3. The PCM monitors the heater circuit to ensure the sensor reaches its operating temperature quickly for efficient emissions control. If the PCM detects an out-of-range voltage or resistance (typically an open circuit or short to ground) in the heater's power or ground supply, it triggers the MIL and stores the code.
Possible Causes
Failed heater element inside the oxygen sensor (internal open circuit)
Damaged wiring or frayed harness leading to the sensor connector
Corrosion or loose pins in the electrical connector
Blown fuse for the HO2S heater circuit
Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
