Technical Description
P0066 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a low voltage condition in the air assist injector control circuit. The air assist injector system is designed to improve fuel atomization during idle and cold-start conditions by routing additional air to the fuel injectors. The ECM monitors the circuit for proper voltage levels; a 'low' signal typically indicates a short to ground or an open circuit in the power feed side of the solenoid/actuator.
Possible Causes
Faulty air assist injector solenoid (internal short)
Wiring harness damage (short to ground in signal wire)
Corroded connectors or loose terminals
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
