Technical Description
P0075 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) detects an electrical malfunction in the intake valve control solenoid circuit for Bank 1 (the bank of the engine that contains cylinder #1). The VVT (Variable Valve Timing) system uses a solenoid to control oil flow to the cam phasers. The ECM monitors the circuit using a PWM signal; if the feedback voltage or resistance is outside of the calibrated range (open circuit, short to ground, or short to voltage), the fault code is triggered. This code specifically points to an electrical issue within the solenoid or its wiring rather than a mechanical timing misalignment.
Possible Causes
Faulty intake valve control solenoid (VVT solenoid) (Internal open circuit or short)
Damaged wiring harness (chafed wires or corrosion in connectors)
Poor ground connection to the solenoid or PCM
Internal Engine Control Module (PCM) failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
