Technical Description
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0082 is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) detects a low voltage condition in the Intake Valve Control Solenoid circuit for Bank 2. This solenoid is part of the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system, which adjusts camshaft timing to optimize engine performance and efficiency. The 'Circuit Low' status typically indicates a short to ground in the wiring or a failed solenoid coil with internal short-circuiting. Bank 2 is the bank of the engine that does not contain cylinder number 1.
Possible Causes
Faulty Intake Valve Control Solenoid (Bank 2)
Short to ground in the wiring harness
Corroded or loose connectors at the VVT solenoid
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
