Technical Description
P0083 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a high voltage condition in the Intake Valve Control Solenoid circuit for Bank 2. This solenoid is part of the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system, which adjusts the camshaft timing to improve power, fuel economy, and emissions. A 'Circuit High' condition typically means the ECM sees a voltage level above the calibrated threshold, often caused by an open circuit, a short to power, or high internal resistance in the solenoid coil.
Possible Causes
Open circuit or wiring damage in the VVT solenoid harness
Faulty VVT/Intake valve control solenoid (Internal failure)
Corroded or loose connectors causing high resistance
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
