Technical Description
P00A0 is a generic OBD-II diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating a fault within the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) temperature sensor circuit for Bank 1. The ECM/PCM monitors the sensor's voltage to determine the efficiency of the intercooler. The sensor is typically a thermistor that changes resistance based on temperature. If the ECM detects a voltage signal that is inconsistent with operating conditions or out of a predetermined range, it will trigger the MIL and may limit boost pressure to protect the engine from pre-ignition caused by high intake temperatures. This code focuses on the sensor that measures air temperature after it has passed through the charge air cooler.
Possible Causes
Faulty Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor (internal open or short)
Damaged wiring harness or corroded connectors near the sensor (exposed environment)
Obstruction or debris blocking the face of the intercooler, causing readings out of range
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) or software error

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
