Technical Description
P00A4 is stored when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an unstable or erratic signal from the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Temperature Sensor 2. This sensor monitors the efficiency of the intercooler by measuring the air temperature after compression and cooling. The ECU relies on this data to manage ignition timing, fuel delivery, and boost pressure. If the signal voltage fluctuates erratically or drops out momentarily—often due to wiring issues or internal sensor failure—the ECU triggers P00A4 to prevent engine damage from pre-ignition or knock caused by inaccurate air density calculations.

Loose connection or corrosion in the charge air temperature sensor connector.
Wiring harness damage (chafed insulation or short to power/ground).
Defective charge air temperature sensor (internal intermittent fault).
ECU software glitch or internal ECU hardware failure.
