Technical Description
P00AA is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a range or performance issue with the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor 1 circuit for Bank 2. The IAT sensor is a thermistor that changes resistance based on temperature. The ECM monitors the voltage drop across the sensor (typically from a 5V reference). If the signal is implausible compared to other sensors (like ECT or IAT Bank 1) or drifts out of the calibrated range, the ECM triggers the code. This affects the calculated air density, which is crucial for determining the correct fuel mass and ignition timing.
Possible Causes
Faulty IAT sensor (integrated in MAF or standalone)
Contamination on the sensor element (oil from performance filters or debris)
Wiring issues such as corrosion in the connector or high resistance in the harness
Defective Engine Control Unit (ECU) or software issue

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
