Technical Description
P00B0 is set when the engine control unit (ECU) detects that the 'B' boost control module or actuator is not performing within its calibrated range. This specifically refers to the secondary turbocharger or supercharger control circuit. The ECU monitors the position feedback signal and compares it to the target boost map. If the actuator position deviates from the commanded value by a specific threshold (typically measured in duty cycle percentage or voltage feedback) for a set duration, the fault code is stored. This often results in the ECU limiting engine torque to prevent hardware damage from over-boost or under-boost conditions.
Possible Causes
Sticking mechanical linkage in the turbocharger variable geometry (VGT) or wastegate 'B'
Faulty electronic wastegate actuator
Damaged wiring harness or corroded connectors to the actuator
Vacuum leaks (if vacuum controlled) or internal ECU fault

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
