Technical Description
P00BA is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects that fuel pressure has dropped below a critical threshold, necessitating a 'Limp Home' mode to protect engine components. Unlike general pressure sensor codes, P00BA indicates an active performance derate. The ECU compares the target fuel pressure with the actual pressure reported by the Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor. If the actual pressure is significantly lower than the commanded pressure for a predefined duration, the code is stored and torque output is restricted to prevent lean-burn conditions or mechanical damage to the high-pressure pump.
Possible Causes
Clogged fuel filter or restriction in fuel lines
Faulty Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor providing incorrect readings
Worn high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) or failing in-tank lift pump (LPFP)
Fuel system leaks or faulty fuel pressure regulator

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
