Technical Description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) monitors the crankshaft acceleration following each injection event using the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. If the ECU detects that cylinder 3 does not contribute sufficient rotational energy compared to the other cylinders, P0269 is stored. This is based on calculating the angular velocity of the crankshaft during the power stroke. It indicates that cylinder 3 suffers from a faulty injector, mechanical issues, or incorrect fuel delivery.
Possible Causes
Clogged or faulty fuel injector for cylinder 3
Incorrect injector coding in the ECU (missing or wrong IMA/ISA codes)
Internal engine mechanical failure such as low compression (piston rings, valves)
Wiring harness fault or corrosion in the injector connector

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
