Technical Description
P0562 is a generic diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected a system voltage that is below a predetermined limit (typically below 10.0V to 11.5V) for a specific duration. The ECM monitors voltage through the ignition circuit to ensure reliable operation of sensors, actuators, and processors. If the voltage drops too low, electronic components may malfunction, CAN bus communication might fail, and modules may enter 'Limp Mode' or shut down completely to prevent hardware damage.
Possible Causes
Defective alternator (voltage regulator) or worn-out battery
Corrosion or loose connections at battery terminals or ground points
Faulty wiring between the alternator and battery (B+ cable)
Internal short circuit in a control module pulling down system voltage

Recommended Solution
- VISUAL INSPECTION: Inspect battery terminals for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Check the alternator belt condition and tension.
- BATTERY TEST: Measure static voltage (should be >12.6V) and perform a load test. Replace battery if it fails to hold a charge.
- CHARGING SYSTEM: Start the engine and measure voltage across the battery terminals. It should be between 13.8V and 14.4V at 2000 RPM. If under 13V, the alternator is likely failing.
- VOLTAGE DROP TEST: Measure voltage drop on the positive and ground cables between the alternator and battery (max 0.2V allowed per cable).
- ELECTRONICS: If voltage is correct at the battery but low in the ECM live data, check fuses and relays providing power to the ECM.
