Technical Description
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0567 is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects an invalid voltage signal from the cruise control 'Resume' switch circuit. Most cruise control systems operate on a multiplexed resistance circuit where different buttons send specific voltage drops to the ECM. If the signal voltage remains outside the calibrated range for a set period (e.g., signal high when not pressed, or signal missing), the ECM identifies a circuit malfunction. This often results in the cruise control system being disabled for safety reasons.
Possible Causes
Defective clockspring (spiral cable) in the steering wheel
Short circuit or oxidation in the cruise control switch assembly
Wiring harness damage or open circuit in the steering column
Internal ECM/BCM software or hardware failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
